Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives Relatives of the Cuban FIve

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 28 (ACN) The Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miguel Angel Moratinos, received on Wednesday Adriana Perez and Olga Salanueva, the wives of two of the five Cuban antiterrorists unjustly incarcerated in the United States for 11 years now.

The meeting with the wives of Gerardo Hernandez and Rene Gonzalez, arrested in 1998 along with Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez and Antonio Guerrero, took place at the Foreign Ministry’s office in Madrid.

The Foreign Minister expressed his interest in the situation of The Five, as they’re internationally known due to the international campaign in favor if their release, the Cubadebate web site reports.

Moratinos also expressed his concern for the situation of the two wives, in the face of the denial of entry visas, reiterated for years by the US authorities, so they can visit their husbands in prison, where they’re serving unjust sentences.

The Spanish official promised the two women his cooperation in this case. Olga and Adriana were invited to Spain by different Cuba friendship associations and by several organizations in favor of the release of The Five.

Olga and Adriana are touring various European nations to promote the case of the Cuban Five, and to demand justice for Gerardo, René, Ramón, Fernando and Antonio. During the meeting with the Spanish FM, they were accompanied by Cuban ambassador to Spain, Alejandro Gonzalez.
